What is Asto?

Asto is a mobile app that makes it easier for people to take control of their businesses, make more informed decisions about their finances, and help their businesses thrive. Think of Asto as your personal business helper – always on hand to make working life simpler.

How do I get Asto?

The Asto app will be launching in beta soon, with a small group of business owners. We’re starting with Santander customers (because that’s the first bank account our app can connect to). We’ll open the app to a wider group as soon as we can. Even if you’re not a Santander customer, you can sign up to our beta waiting list and discover more about the service and get sneak peeks of upcoming features. As soon as we need more beta testers, we’ll let you know.

What if I don't bank with Santander?

We’ll open up the beta app up to non-Santander customers as soon as we can. Please sign up to our email waiting list, and let us know who you bank with, so we can look at getting Asto to link with your bank too.

I can’t download the app

The app’s not available yet, but it’s coming soon. You will need at least an iPhone 5s and iOS 10 for Asto to work correctly. If you’ve been invited to join our beta testers, and the app still won’t download, please get in touch. We’ll do our best to help. What receipts can I upload?

Any! If it’s a receipt for something you’ve bought or paid for, then snap away and we’ll store it for you.

I can’t capture a receipt

Asto needs a clear, sharp photo of your whole receipt. Check that yours isn’t blurry and that no parts are cut off. We need to see the Merchant Name, Date, Amount and VAT details.

Will I be able to upload electronic receipts?

Not yet, but we’d like to add this feature.

Will I be able to upload handwritten receipts?

Yes, but they can be tricky for Asto to read. So you might need to add or amend some details to these yourself. Always check your receipt details have been properly recorded.

I can’t link my bank account

To start with, the beta app will only link to Santander accounts. When you choose to link your bank account to Asto, we hand you over to your bank’s website for authentication and authorisation. You will sign in with them as you would normally. If you can’t remember your bank login details – or you get an error – you will need to contact your bank. If you’re having an issue with our app, then please contact us.

Is Asto regulated?

Yes, Asto Digital Limited is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority under the Payment Service Regulations 2017 (firm reference number 798763) for the provision of payment services.

Is my data safe with Asto?

Keeping your data safe and secure is essential. Data security is built into the way we work – not an afterthought. We protect your personal information with both technology and security policies and procedures that follow international standards. We review and update them regularly, as necessary, to meet our business needs, changes in technology and regulatory requirements.

How will Asto use my data?

We will use your data to provide you with services and support (if you have any questions). We may also disclose your data to some of our trusted third parties that help deliver our services. We demand a lot of them, so it’s written in their contracts that they must protect the privacy and security of your information. And we’ll never share your information with third parties for marketing purposes without getting your permission first. For more information, please see the Asto Privacy Policy.

How much does it cost to use the app?

Nothing. Zero. Nil. You’re free to use the app … for free. In the future, if we add features you need to pay for, we’ll be upfront about any costs and we won’t sign you up for them without your permission.

Will using the app use my mobile data?

The app connects to any available data connection during use. If you’re not connected to a Wi-Fi network, you will use data from your allowance.

Is the app for iOS or Android?

iOS to start with. Android follows later. Please sign up to the beta waitlist and join our community. As soon as the Android app is ready, we’ll let you know.
