Lead Web Developer
You guide our developers to build an awesome web frontend for our customers, enable new distribution channels, simplify the architecture, enable fast, data driven changes and experimentation, so we can quickly iterate and build a fantastic customer experience. You will also roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty, lifting those around you. If we succeed as a team, our customers have a better chance at succeeding in their business endeavors.
You are coming on board during a transition from a largely outsourced development to a small team of permanent developers.
What’s in it for you?
We are committed to continuous learning, mentoring and coaching, giving people the room to fail and to grow. We are still a small team where everyone counts, and you own what you build. We are one of the first speedboats of Santander, blazing the trail for innovation. Our training budget goes to online courses, conferences, books or other means of learning.
Your team is a handful of web developers from diverse backgrounds and level of experience, building the full customer journey on Web. Their current mission is to build the first version of micro invoice financing solution and set the stage for experimentation and new features. They are proud of their tight interaction, passionate about user experience and always improving, and they have a lot of fun together.
A day in your life …
You know web development inside-out, talk react to your friends and store your todo’s in redux. When someone mentions test driven development, pair programming and design you shrug and say, ‘tell me a more efficient way, while still having fun’. Others look to you for guidance on asynchronous programming, continuous integration and rapid prototyping.
Maybe you also dabbled in React Native, build your own backends in node.js, speak at meetups or on Twitter, contribute to open source projects?
On the other hand, you know how to lead a small team of developers, create a collaborative environment where ideas are welcomed, inspire productivity within the team, know when and what to delegate and are a great communicator.
How we work
We believe that quality comes from mastery and simplicity, that doing things as well as we can is its own reward. Leadership is a behavior, not a job title. We use a blend of scrum and XP, but still have a way to go. Work life balance is important to everyone, from the CEO on down, so we typically get our work done during the day. We are moving to a model where each squad owns the full vertical from frontend to DevOps, supported by a lean and mean platform team.
